The Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department (IRD) will increase the total fee for a one-year Business Registration Certificate to HKD 2,350 starting 1 April 2026, according to the latest Business Registration Fee and Levy Table published by the government.
The adjustment reflects the reinstatement of a HKD 150 levy, which will be added to the existing HKD 2,200 registration fee. As a result, businesses registering or renewing their certificates from April 2026 will pay HKD 150 more than the current total of HKD 2,200.
Currently, for registrations with a commencement date between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, businesses only pay the HKD 2,200 registration fee, as the levy is temporarily set at HKD 0. When the new fee period begins on 1 April 2026, the levy will once again apply, bringing the total payable amount to HKD 2,350.
The updated schedule also affects three-year Business Registration Certificates. From April 2026, the total cost for a three-year certificate will rise to HKD 6,170, consisting of a HKD 5,720 registration fee and a HKD 450 levy. Under the current fee schedule, the total payable amount is HKD 6,020, which includes a HKD 300 levy.
Branch registrations will also reflect the revised levy amounts. Beginning 1 April 2026, the fee for a one-year branch registration certificate will increase from HKD 80 to HKD 230, while the fee for a three-year branch registration certificate will increase from HKD 508 to HKD 658.
The revised amounts will apply to all Business Registration Certificates with a commencement date on or after 1 April 2026, meaning businesses registering or renewing their certificates from that date will be subject to the updated fees.
